CH1 (pt1/2)

The busy streets of Empire City wasn’t a new scene for her.

It was noisy, it was dark and it was alive even in the wee hours of the morning. Yet, today , the echoes of the cars that passed by the street sounded scarce and distant from her skyscraper office. And among many buildings, her office was one of those floor that was still illuminated in the wee hours of the morning of a weekend.

She was huddled over her desk since last night, papers stacked her once tidy desk. She had been signing and studying contracts that needed to be done over the weekend. Not that she minded… She didn’t have any plans for the weekend anyway, and running a multi-billion dollar company doesn’t mean she can slack off anytime. She had to work harder than ever, and yet here she was, staring into space, having finished everything before the sun rose.

She sighed, rubbing her face in exhaustion. She took a glance at her desk, papers now stacked nicely for her secretary to pick-up. Her gaze lingered momentarily on an overturned picture frame, reaching for it tentatively, however; like clockwork, her secretary knocked.

“Garnet, come in”

The door opened slightly, “Good morning–” She paused to look at Pearl and her desk. “Have you been at it since yesterday, Pearl?”   Garnet made her way towards Pearl’s desk, she sets down a cup of Pearl’s favourite coffee.

“No, just started it last night, I didn’t have anything better to do anyway” Pearl replied; taking a sip of the hot coffee. She hummed in appreciation. “That’s one good coffee. Thank you Garnet.”

“You know, Pearl. Sapphy and Ruby wouldn’t like it if I told them you’re working yourself too hard these days,” She pointed to Pearl’s disheveled look. Pearl took the hint, compared to Garnet’s smart look, in dress shirt and slacks, she was looking horrible.

“You don’t need to tell them” replied Pearl as she adjust her collar and straighten her dress-shirt.

“Aunt Pearl, you know how they are” moaned Garnet. Pearl chuckled.

“I know how your parents are, Garnet. It just doesn’t seem necessary for you to tell them every little detail about my work-a-holic life, you know?”

“Well, they do insist that I keep an eye on you while I’m interning here” she gave Pearl a soft smile. “Besides, who would look out for you if not me?”

“Ever the adult, you should slow down, you’re growing up way to fast!” exclaimed Pearl and both shared a laugh, then there was just a short comfortable silence.

Pearl took one more sip of the coffee, and cradled it in her hands. “Is there anything else important we need to discuss?” she gave a soft look to Garnet.

“Oh, right! You have a charity event in Beach City this coming weekend”

“Beach City… huh?” Pearl expressed a longing, something Garnet barely missed.

“I remember, Ruby telling me a lot about Beach City” Garnet piqued.

Pearl gazed out the window.“Yes, they were, great memories” she turned her attention back to Garnet, a sad smile on her pale lips.

“Well, the arrangements are already in order, and you needn’t worry about anything”

“I know you’ve handled everything well, you may leave now”

Garnet turned to leave. “Pearl?” But Pearl did not seem to hear her. She pursed her lips in thought but sighed in defeat. If something was bothering Pearl, Garnet knew Pearl will come to her in her own time. She walked out the office without a second glance.

Beach City.

Ever the paradise.   Pearl thought as her car sped down the nostalgic boardwalk. Glistening sea and clear blue skies, it seemed like nothing changed in this small town.

Her car slowed down as a crowd of people gathered around her car. Her driver opened the door and she was greeted by flashing lights. Reporters. She pressed forward ignoring the screams and the annoying questions. Soon, she was standing in the podium, Beach City’s infamous Beach Stadium, where almost everything is held. Though she had been here before, a closer look made her realize, a lot seemed to change. There were more people, there were more buildings and more tourist. She could barely count them now in her hands.

20 years is a lot of time.

As she was standing before the podium, looking at some familiar faces in the crowd, like Kiki Pizza, her dad, Kofi, and Nanefua Pizza, who looks a lot older than when they were younger. And there was Vidalia, who seemed to hold a son? Oh, Barbara is ever the same and Bill, still look like when she left. Pearl shook her head. Focus.

The crowd’s cheer soon settled down. She gave them short eye contact and started her speech.

“There goes a famous saying “Charity begins at home.” It’s not enough to contribute good and money to the charitable organizations alone. If your own mother is lying on the bed and you do not serve her and instead are interested in helping a charitable organization, you surely do not understand the true meaning of charity. A charity free from any selfish motives is charity in true sense of the term.”

Pearl looked at the crowd, seemingly satisfied with their eager reactions. She continued. “I came here to Beach City, because it has been part of my life. Beach City has been my home. The people here had been a part of me and are the reasons why I’m standing on top of the world right now. Pearl Gems Corporation’s motto is  ‘Every gem counts’. It doesn’t mean that these gems pertain to our products, but to our own as well, we treasure our people, our employees as gems and they are in need of delicate care. That’s why we have started Little Gems Association, because we believe want to take care of our employees and that extends to their family and friends. We believe that children are our future and we haven’t seen enough of them grow because of the rising economy, you can only find them in Empire City, London, Paris, Europe but not in small towns like Beach City. We believe that children even in small places like this needs a touch of delicate care and be polished to be diamonds. Learning is the key, improving themselves and preparing them for the future is our oath. This association is founded to make education free to locals we have the establishments in, because you support our corporation, and now we are giving back to you, people of Beach City. Thank you” Pear gave a short curt and went down the stage, people giving her big applauses and whistle. The crowd followed her to the newly built establishment, a school, one of the biggest in Beach City.

Her assistant, Garnet, presented her with the ceremonial pearl white scissors and she proceeded to cut the dangling red ribbon. Everyone cheered. “Welcome to Pearl Beach Elementary”

Pearl waved the people to go inside and slowly she started to blend with them and eventually, pulling herself out for some alone time. She went out back,  from the distance she could hear the MC, Jamie, “So without further ado, let’s start the fair!”  Music blared and the fair was in full swing. She continued to walk and was surprised to see Garnet.

“Taking a break?”

Pearl chuckled. “You know me, I can’t handle big crowds that long”

“I understand, you should head over the beach, the people have already started to enjoy the fair, I think it’ll be fairly quiet.”

Pearl nodded in agreement. “I believe so too, can you handle things while I’m gone? Bill Dewey has been giving me this weird eye contact ever since I arrived”

Garnet chuckled, “Of, course Pearl”

Hayley’s pov

The lights blinked around me, the loud music rumbled in my head, I had already lost my senses and the notion of what time it was at that moment, and honestly I did not care. I signaled for the bartender and pushed my drink forward, he nodded and filled my glass again with another shot of whiskey.

“To someone who is in a place like this, you seem to have left a funeral.” I heard a male voice beside me. I turned my face and saw a man, tall, brown hair and beard with blue eyes. He smiled at me, leaning against the counter next to me. I rolled my eyes.

“And you’re the expert,” I said bluntly.

“I can say yes.” He laughed. “It’s easy to read people”

“Really?” I said, playing with the edge of my glass cup. “So tell me what you see in me”

“A beautiful girl, your eyes don’t lie and I can say that you are very intelligent, but you did not come to a place like this to meet someone, you came to get your head off your problems, right? ”

“Nice try,” I said.

“I think you’re running away from something or from someone. So that’s why you are here.” He said and I looked at him incredulously. He smiled and held out his hand. “Scott Haywood”

“Hayley O'Connell.” I squeezed his hand.

“I know,” he said and I narrowed my eyes and pulled my hand. “It’s written on your badge.” He gestured with a laugh. I looked down and saw the hospital badge hanging from my bag.

“Oh, I did not realize that,” I said. “So, what you do for living, sir analyst?” I asked curiously.

“I’m a psychiatrist,” he replied. “And you’re a doctor too?”

“Yes,” I said.

“You do not look like you’re having fun.”

“I just came to get a drink.”

“You should enjoy it. Doctors like us do not have that much time at our disposal.” He said and I smiled.

“Yeah, true.”

“Oh, look at this. She knows how smile.” He smiled at me and I rolled my eyes. "What’s your story?”

“Why would I tell you?”

“Because you’re by far the most beautiful girl I’ve seen in this place, not saying it looks too mysterious and interesting.” He said and I sighed.

“Do you know when you can not get your ex out of your system?” I said. “We broke up a year ago now, and I still can not stop thinking about it.”

“Was she special?” He asked.

“You can say that. She was beautiful, older, intelligent, funny without trying to be, protective and loving,” I said remembering the qualities of that person. “But, she broke my heart, and I broke up with her. And you know what’s worse? It’s that after everything we’ve been through I still love her. I’m still in love with her and it kills me every time.”

"I’m sorry for this.”

“It’s all right. I came home anyway.”

“America?”

“Definitely.”

“Well, Hayley, the least I can do is pay you a drink. Something tells me that mysterious girls like you know how to tell good stories.”

“But you do not even know me.” I laughed.

“But I’d love to meet you.” He smiled.

Actual days, Hayley’s apartment

“So, tell me what we can do in New York? I do not want to boast but I’ve already started to make some itinerary plans,” Scott said with an excited smile as he unpacked his bags on my bed.

I stared at him with folded arms leaning against the door, biting my lips thinking of Kamilah’s kiss a few days ago and like a part of me craved that kiss again. And the other party desperately wanted to return to London and forget all that had happened.

"Hayley?” He called me and I looked up at him. I realized how distracted I was. “Is everything okay, honey?” He asked.

“Of course,” I tried to smile. “I’m just so happy to see you again. Even knowing that it’s only a week you’ll stay here.”

“I know.” He came up to me and took my hands. “But let’s do as much as we can to enjoy it, right?” He smiled at me and I smiled back.

“Of course,” I said.

“Oh, and I talked to Father Williams, the church you wanted so much, I finally got the day. We’re going to have our wedding there! ”

“Scott this is… Incredible. Was that the big surprise?”

"Yes you liked?”

“Of course I do.” I smiled and hugged him. “Thank you for everything.” He squeezed me tightly in his arms, and I sighed.

At that moment my cell phone started ringing in my pocket. I pulled away from Scott and saw that it was my father on the cell phone screen.

“Hi dad,” I said, answering.

“Hey, superstar. How are you? Excited for the wedding?” He asked.

"Of course,” I said, walking around the apartment, peering out of the corner of my eye and watching Scott unpack again.

“Scott told you about our plans?” He asked.

“Our Plans?” I asked confused.

“Yes, about marriage. I told him It would be better for you if he went to New York and stayed with you for a few days.”

“So did he come here for you?” I asked incredulously.

“Of course darling. We also analyzed and we thought it would be better to go to Ireland on the honeymoon than to Greece. ”

“Wait, you and Scott are making plans on my back?!” I said angrily. “Father again? You’ve done it my whole life. You keep controlling me and will you do the same with my marriage?!”

“It’s for your good, think—”

“Stop, I do not want to know. You will not do this to me, you will not control my life again, it’s my choices and not yours. I knew I could not have left anything in your hands.” I said disappointedly and hung up before he could hang up.

"Hayley, Is everything alright?” I lifted the eyes when I heard Scott’s voice and I saw him standing in the doorway of the room.

“You let him do that? After all, what he did with me? You knew that all the time and still… Why?” I asked angrily. “You are here because of him and not me?” I looked at him disappointedly.

"Your father only wants your good,” he said.

“You even talk like him,” I said, taking my coat and my keys. I shook my head angrily.

“Where are you going? Honey…”

I opened the door and turned to him.

“Think. You know Scott, one thing is my dad doing this with me, but another and worse is you even agreeing with this” I said and closed the door.

I barely noticed when I was in the most unexpected place of all, in her place. I knocked on the door and a stunning woman opened it. Kamilah looked at me in surprise, but a smile escaped her lips and her eyes softened for me. She was still using her social clothes from work, a white shirt with a few buttons open, a pair of social pants and she was barefoot.

“Look who it is.” She said smiling. “The lost puppy girl knocking on my door at this time.”

“Can I enter?” I bit my lip.

She gave way and I walked in. Kamilah closed the door behind her. I sighed looking around that beautiful place.

“You’re working, right? I do not want to disturb you.”

“It’s alright. I was just checking a few contracts and my emails.” She said waking beside me holding a glass of whiskey in her hand. “What do I owe the pleasure?” I sighed and sat on her couch. “A drink?” She offered.

“Please,“ I said. She went to the bar to make my drink and I ran my hand anxiously through my hair. "Everything’s been so hard lately. I just found out Scott and my dad are making decisions behind my back. Again. You know, I guess I should have figured it out, I should have. My father could never do things without being his way. But… Scott is involved on this and I’m so disappointed, I thought that I could trust him and he is working with the worst person on my life” Kamilah walked to me and handed my drink.

She sat in the armchair in front of me and looked at me with that look I knew well. I admired her silently, she was beautiful. And how was she looking at me with a mixture of compassion and love.

"Do not look at me like that,” I said. “I know what you’re going to say.” Kamilah laughed out loud.

“You’re the most anxious person I know,” she said. “The way you get nervous, running your hand through your hair is lovely.”

“You’re not helping,” I said. I sighed shaking my head. “I’m just nervous about all this.”

“It’s your marriage. You should be happy. Not confuse or angry, but happy and sure about all this. I knew this guy never deserved you in the first place”

“I was… I mean, I am sure!” I stammered. “I did not think it would be like this, had so many difficulties, that made me so distressed. And to know that my father and Scott are in this together… Oh god. Think of that this is too much. How can I trust my fiancé if he is working together with the person I least trust?”

Kamilah got up and sat down beside me. I sighed, feeling the fragrance of her perfume. I looked at her and saw her brown eyes looking at me thoughtfully.

“You’re hesitant,” she said. It’s your marriage, he is the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with and you are unhappy,” she said. “Just say the word and I’ll break their necks.” I laughed at that. She smiled softly. “Honestly putting my feelings for you aside, I don’t you should marry this guy.”

“I think I should go back to London.”

“No.” I felt her hand warm in mine. I looked at her, feeling that magnetic impulsive bringing me back to her. “You just came back. Do not do this, do not come back. I just have you back and I’m not going to lose you again”

“Kamilah—”

“You came here for some reason and I think I know what it was,” she said. I got up.

“I came for a piece of advice.” I said and she smiled. “You are the only person that I can trust and talk about this”

“You and I both know that Adrian is the romantic here. If you came after some advice, you should have called him,“ she said with a frown. "But, I’m glad you came.” She smiled.

“Maybe I should have called for him,” I said and she looked cynically at me. I sighed. “I wanted to talk to you. I like to talk with you.” I admitted and she smiled as she stood up and coming to me. Kamilah came close enough for it to become too much, I tried to pull back but felt one hand of her on my waist the other touched my chin gently.

“That’s it?” She asked softly, looking deep into my eyes. I got lost looking at those beautiful brown eyes. “Just say it.” She said warmly. “I know you love me as much I love you. And you are tired of this situation as well.”

“Kamilah—“

“Is not going to hurt you admitting for once” She said looking at me patiently. I swallowed hard, closing my eyes and fighting against that.

“I love you, satisfy? I love you so much” I confessed, looking at her, and I saw the wide, bright smile on her face. “But I love my fiancé, too, but you… You’re stuck inside me. Always. I don’t know what to do. Lately it’s the only thing I can think of and it’s driving me crazy, and I should not, I know it’s wrong, but Kamilah… You have no idea how frustrating it is to still be in love with you after 7 years.” I said. I saw her eyes flashed and she smiling widely.

"Oh, I know exactly what it is,” she said with a smile. “Do you know what I want right now? I want to kiss you and I want to take you to our bed and make you mine all night.” She confessed. “But, I’m just going to do that if you want to. If you want me as much as I want you.”

I bit my lips hating myself so much for wanting her as much she wanted me. For an impulse, I stood on tiptoe and grabbed her neck, sticking my lips to hers. Kamilah answered my kiss eagerly as I pulled her down to kiss her. She wrapped her arms around my waist and picked me up on her lap easily, I tightened my legs around her hips. I kissed her with desire and passion, to have her lips back to mine was like breathe again, Kamilah parted her lips from mine, distributing warm kisses along the length of my neck. She began to walk blindly around the house, expertly going to the bedroom without bumping into anything. When we got to the bedroom, she laid me on the bed, I leaned on my elbows, and looked at her with desire watching her take off her shirt with just a gesture. I bit my lips at the sight of her dark skin and her toned abdomen. That was the vision of paradise. Kamilah smiled at my gaze and pressed her warm body over mine, kissing my neck and pulling off my sweater quickly, I felt her warm hands running over my body. At that moment my cell phone started ringing in my pocket and Kamilah grunted in annoyance. I stopped our kiss and took the phone from my pocket, seeing Scott’s name on the screen.

“Not today,” she said with red eyes and fangs showing. She took the phone from my hand and threw it against the wall. “He will not be a nuisance now.”

“Kamilah! My cell phone! "I looked at her indignantly. She kissed me again not even caring for this. I felt her hand blindly pulling off my engagement ring and leaving it on the nightstand.

"I’ll buy you another one,” she said after sticking her tongue into my mouth again. “Now let’s make this night worth it for the past seven years.” She said and I smiled.

"I’ll buy you another one,” she said after sticking her tongue into my mouth again. “Now let’s make this night worth it for the past seven years.” She said and I smiled.

Kamilah’s pov

Hayley hesitated for a moment, as I pressed my lips hard against hers, longing for that kiss for so much longer than she could imagine. I don’t think I was too kind doing this, but that adrenaline rush ran through my body with that electric current and her lips against mine. 7 years without this lips, I was not thinking straight right now. I pressed her hard against the kitchen counter, one of my hands on her face and another on her waist, tightening my fingers in that region.

For a moment, with her hesitation, I thought she was going to push me and walk away leaving me behind, but Hayley proved me wrong.

She finally succumbed to the kiss, pulling me close with both hands by the collar of my blouse. Her lips moved frequently against mine with the same passion, I asked permission with my tongue to enter her mouth and she did not think twice to accept. My tongue moved against hers in a frantic rhythm, I could hear her heart pounding.

It was music to my ears to hear her breath racing, her heart pounding against her chest. Being so close to her was maddening, I was losing my senses, I was losing control, her scent was intoxicating.

Hayley was breathing hard as she moved her lips away from mine, she looked directly into my eyes, she was panting with red lips and dilated pupils. I stared into those gorgeous green eyes, her eyes went to my mouth in which she bit my lower lip and kissed me harder than ever before. She was driving me crazy, her scent, her perfume, her lips against mine. I didn’t know for how long the thread of the only trace of sanity would remain in my mind before I took her here and now.

Without taking my lips off of hers for a second, my hands went to her leather jacket, I hurriedly pulled her off. I could feel Hayley’s hands unbuttoning the buttons on my blouse until it opened completely. My hands went down to her hips and I lifted her easily, setting her on the counter. My lips trailed down her neck, shooting hot kisses all over the length of her soft, warm skin. Hayley curled her fingers in my hair, sighing and letting out groans that I waited years to hear again.

I could hear her blood stream running through her veins, the temptation to bury my fangs in that perfect neck was too much.

But the coherent thought in my mind of was she and that moment could not be destroyed by a foolish temptation, made me leave that absurd need inside me.

“Oh, Kamilah—” She blurted out. She pulled me close, tightening her legs around my hips.

She wanted me, I could feel it, I knew it all along. She wanted me as much as I wanted her.

The urge to take her here was almost overwhelming me, I wanted to tear those clothes off at once, leading her to our old bed, as I did many times. But at the same time I wanted to savor that moment, to do it without hurry.

But that moment would be destroyed by a sound I did not expect.

Hayley’s cell phone began to ring in her pocket, she took off the lips of mine and looked down, I continued to kiss her face.

“Dammit. I have to pick it up,” Hayley said.

“No, you don’t.” I brought her lips back to mine.

“It could be from the hospital. Maybe it’s urgent.” She pulled her mouth away from mine and picked up her phone.

The moment her eyes glanced up at the screen, a look of panic gripped her face, Hayley jumped off the counter and out of my reach.

“Bloody hell! Holy shit,” she said, startled.

"What is it?” I asked, watching her face.

“It’s Scott!” She replied euphorically. I rolled my eyes. She answered. “Hey… Hey honey. How are you?” Hayley clumsily dressed her jacket, I buttoned my shirt watching it in disgust.

Hayley paced back and forth talking to that guy, I leaned against the counter, and crossed my arms.

"No, I’m not in the hospital. I am at home. Yes I know.” Hayley was answering restless the things he was saying.

"You what?” She raised her voice. “Oh my god this is… Awesome! I’m very happy to hear that. I can not wait too, okay? Sure… I will. Just let me know, alright?… I love you too, bye.”

I shuddered in disgust as I heard her say those words to him.

I kept my eyes on her hoping she would turn to me. When Hayley looked at me, there was a look of panic on her face. It was like the realization of what we are doing was coming to her.

“He’s coming to New York. He is going to stay with me for a week until he get back to London and finish our wedding preparations.”

"I can not believe…” I cursed the guy just for the daring to want to come here. I stopped talking when I saw how nervous she was. “Hayley—”

“My fiance called me, and I was kissing my ex! I was betraying him with you, we almost… ” She shook her head, running a hand through her blond hair. “I can not believe I did this with him!”

“You’re not sorry for the kiss, are you?”

She was silent, agitated, but silent.

I approached and she pulled away.

“It was damn good kiss, I do not regret any second and I’m sure you do not either”

“I should not do that! I’m about to get married! That was wrong,” she said.

"We were almost… You wanted it too, if that… If this pathetic guy had not called, I’m sure we’d be doing other things” I said angrily at her.

Now she was denying it again, she was coming back and acting as if nothing had happened, like she should not have kissed me.

“I just opened my heart to you and your reaction was to respond to my kiss and that’s wrong?” I said, but she was anxious, running one of her hands on her hair and looking widely at the floor.

“I accepted him. Kamilah, I’ve been with him a long time. We… He makes me happy. I’m engaged with a guy who loves me, I’m getting married in a few months. I should not even be here. So, please…” She looked at me with eyes full of tears, that broke my heart. “Can we forget what happened?”

What?!“

“You’re always going to be a special person to me, but you’ve been in my past, and Scott… He’s my present and my future.”

“But… I love you.” I said those words that remained choked in my throat for a long time. Hayley’s eyes widened and I could see more tears streaming down her cheeks.

"I-I… H-Have to go.” Hayley walked quickly into the living room to get her purse.

“Hayley—” I tried to reach for her to wrap my arms around her, but she pulled away.

Hayley walked to the door and in a heartbeat I was in front of her.

“I let you in. I fucking let you in and you completely destroyed me.” Hayley stopped and lifted her face to look at me, crying. “You are not going to do that again” She said.

“I’m in love for you, I’m not trying to destroy you. I’m trying to get you back. I want you back. I know you love me too, that kiss was the proof that I was waiting for so long.”

"I have to go. Thank you for dinner.” She turned away from me and hurried out the door, I could reach her, but she needed space, the only thing that was going through my head was that she had kissed me too, which meant she felt something. Which meant that I might still have an chance.

Hayley’s pov

Mount Sinai Hospital. May 15th, 20h30 PM

I paced back and forth with countless thoughts at once in my head.

I stopped to see Lily smirking at me, sitting on my oak table in my hospital office.

"It was nothing, it was just a kiss,” I said trying to convince myself.

“Or maybe not,” Lily said with her mouth full of Cheetos.

I ignored her and continued walking thoughtfully.

“It did not mean anything, it was just something… Involuntary. She’s… She’s an attractive, very attractive woman. Anyone would want to kiss her too. Do not you agree?”

“Kamilah is really hot, af” Lily agreed.

“And it was a very good kiss, but it will not happen again, I will not get close to Kamilah again. She makes me feel anxious and my head spin, and that’s no good.”

“No good at all” Lily smirked to me.

“Stop Lily”

“I’m not doing anything.” She laughed.

“You are. I know what you are going to say, but I cheated Scott, that was so wrong. He’s so sweet, how could I do that to him? God, I feel awful and there’s Kamilah, she’s gorgeous, she comes to me and says all those things I’ve waited years to hear, saying that she loves me and wants me back… I’m confused and feeling even worse.“

“Maybe you wanted that kiss tho” Lily said. I looked at her and she was smiling. “Maybe you wanted Kamilah that night. Do you know what I think?”

“What?” I stopped.

“If you want to hear my opinion, the thing is… I think you still love Kamilah, but you were resentful for all these years, and that’s ok because she really did not a good job as your girlfriend. But she adore you, she is regretted and up for change, she loves you. You both love each other, but you guys are two stubborn heads. If you really loved Scott so much as you say you would not cheat him as you did.”

“It was an accident!”

“A really good one, right?” She smirked.

“Lily! You are not helping here!”

“Think about this, ok? Kamilah… She is good with contracts, negotiations and make money, but her forte is not relantionships. But you still love her and you know that.”

“Lily, this is an absurd. I don’t love Kamilah. Not anymore. It was just a kiss, and it’s not going to happen again”

“Are going to deny this until when? You are really up to continue with this weeding?” Lily sighed.

“You are my bridesmaid! You should encourage me and support me with this!”

“I’m your best friend and I’m saying that you are blind and doing something that you think is right, but I really think you are making a mistake. But is your life and your choices and this meant to be forever.”

I sighed and I sat on my chair.

“I’m team Kamilah, ok? Don’t be mad with me” She said. “Scott… He is nice, but Kamilah is Kamilah.”

“I’m not supposed to be confused like this months away from my wedding. I know it was going to be hard coming back, but Kamilah… She is on my past.”

“Hayley, stop being so stubborn. When are going to realize that your happiness is in front of you?”

“Lily!”

“Alright, alright. You do what you think it’s best. Independent of your decision, I will be there on the altar with you. With Whoever you choose” She jumped up from the table.

I smiled at my best friend.

"Thank you”

“Are you going to tell Scott what happened?” Lily asked looking directly into my eyes.

I moistened my lips.

“I don’t know yet.”

“Well, whatever you decide, I’ll be here by your side. Think of what I said.” Lily walked past me and closed the door behind her, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

May 17th, Airport

I waited patiently around countless people around me. I got his texts saying that he was coming today. It was only a matter of minutes before he emerged from the gates.

"Oh God. What am I doing? "I said to myself eagerly.

How I would look into his eyes after all this. a part of me wanted to apologize, wanted to go back to London and continue to follow my life with the man I was engaged to. Another part of me, the part that I desperately tried to hide and deny, yearned for Kamilah’s mouth and kisses. Wanted Kamilah. I had a one-way ticket to hell as the worst bride ever.

In that moment of torment and chaos I barely noticed when a hand touched my shoulder, I looked up and saw that smile and bright blue eyes. It was him.

"Hayley?” Scott said softly.

“Scott” I said back looking at my fiancée. With a tightness in my chest, breathing hard, I smiled at him, letting him wrap his arms around me.

Where’s the next part! </3
